lovely lavender!

Monday, January 31, 2011

Hello!! I'm hosting the challenge this week at The Shabby Tea Room and the theme is 'Get Creative'!! (#47) Basically, the idea is to get creative with your basic supplies (card, stamps and ink), if you can make something give it a go! Stamp your background papers for example or use an embossing folder. So, no ready printed papers and do try to make your own embellishments. You can use ribbon and lace. This week's sponsor at The Shabby Tea Room is JustRite Stampers, they kindly provided the DT with some products to work with. For my card I used Just Rite Fancy Tags Set Clings and Happy Everything Mini Tag Making Kit (I loved this kit, you get 18 Sentiments, 1 Mini Border, a clear stamper and 4 custom Tag Dies!!)

There is this really cute motif in the Fancy Tags Set that I used to stamp my background paper on the top half of the card, in VersaMagic Spring Pansy. The gorgeous pattern on the tag is a stamp from the same set! Using the dies in the Happy Everything Mini Tag kit I cut out the tag and layered the sentiment on top, the sentiment is from the same set. For the bottom of the card I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on some lavender paper and rubbed a white ink pad over it.

I made the flower from the same lavender paper using the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die (I used the two smaller dies) and a tutorial by Tim Holtz, there's a challenge this week on the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog - Create a 3-D Flower. I made the centre of my flower a little different, mainly because I couldn't get the one in the tutorial to look right! Once it was finished I dipped it in some ultra fine glitter. The leaves I drew onto some paper, cut out and rubbed the edges with brown ink and scored a few vein lines on.

I made the soft lilac ribbon by tearing some strips off chiffon fabric (it frays beautifully!) and tied it in a bow. I didn't make the lace! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, I'll definitely give the flowers another go too! Don't forget to check out the rest of the Shabby Girls wonderful creations at The Shabby Tea Room!

Sweet roses...

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Here's my card for this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge (WMSC32). I started off with a heart shaped doily, I've never actually used paper doilies on my cards before (I know I can't believe it either!) this one is actually pink but I used the reverse because it was a little too pink! Anyway, here's this week's sketch.

Yea, my card is a loose interpretation of the sketch this week! ; ) I also made my card with this week's Tuesday Trigger in mind - Sweets for the Sweet at Moxie Fab World.

Love the yummy pinks, creamy fudge and pretty scalloped edging on the box. Such a fab photo!!

I filled the centre of my heart doily with pretty little roses - Prima fairytale roses in baby pink. I brushed the tops of them with some white acrylic paint. Really made them pop!

The sentiment is from the Sweethearts stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I stamped the whole background using Text-It also from Waltzingmouse Stamps in Rose Bud ink. I used a little distress ink in Antique Linen on the edges.

I used some paper from Papermania Rose Garden on the very base layer, you can just see it peeping through. I love have how pretty this turned out! Don't forget to check out the rest of the team's creations at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, they really are AMAZING this week!!

Supplies:

Card/Paper: White card, Papermania Rose Garden, Sugar Blossom by Quirky Twerp from the Digichick

Ink: Black Archival Ink, Memento Rose Bud Ink, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Antique Linen

Love coupons!

Monday, January 24, 2011

I've a new tutorial over at the Hybrid Chick today, how to make your own Love coupons/vouchers for Valentine's Day! They're nicely contained in their own pretty little envelope, wrapped with some seam binding and a matching tag! Here's a peek!

All the pretty papers I used are from Sugar Blossom Paper Pack by Quirky Twerp at the Digichick. I just love them!!

I used the Fat Envies Template set as a gift wrap for my love coupons, it was just the perfect depth for them. This is a great set of templates if you make cards with a lot of stuff on them!! I use them a lot! It's nice to make a matching envelope since you've taken the time to make a handmade card!

A peek at one of the coupons inside, this one entitles the bearer to one breakfast in bed!! There's lots more ideas for love coupons/vouchers in the article. So, go check it out at The Hybrid Chick!

Frosty...

This week's challenge at The Shabby Tea Room is Winter Wonderland, create a card or project with a winter theme. So I went with a frosty color scheme for my card, whites and cool blues. I added some vintage sparkly bling representing the iciness of winter, I love that sparkle when the sun hits frosty crystals in the morning!

I also made this with the Color Cue {11} at W Plus 9 in mind.

The pretty digital paper is from Timeless Victorian Papers from Raspberry Road Designs. It's such a lovely subtle pattern.

I used Spellbinders Labels 14 and teamed it up with Holiday Labels No.14 from Waltzingmouse Stamps stamped in a soft pink. The sentiment is from Fancy Phrases also from Waltzingmouse Stamps. The embossing folder I used is called cottage floral.

I cut two simple leaf shapes from the card I embossed and added them under the flower. The bit of bling I added to the centre of the flower is an old vintage clip on earring. I love how it looks so icy!!

Don't forget to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the shabby girls!! This week's sponsor at The Shabby Tea Room is Lori Boyd - Lollipops.

Card/Paper: White card, Timeless Victorian Papers by Raspberry Road Designs

Other: Spellbinders Labels 14, white acrylic paint, Cottage floral embossing folder, die-cutting machine, sewing machine, vintage clip on earring, flower trim, white seam binding, lace.

Make a wish...

Saturday, January 22, 2011

An interesting sketch (WMSC31) this week from the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, lots of possibilities with this one!! I flipped the sketch for my card, here's what I came up with.

My daughter Isabelle was running around all day dressed up as a fairy, she was my inspiration for this card! She's obsessed with fairies and magic!! The crochet star I had in my stash, I bought it as part of a mixed lot on ebay a while ago. I cut out a slightly smaller star and covered it in chunky glitter!

I made some patterned paper using Teeny Trees stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I stamped a few little pink stars using Half Pint Heros stamp set in the background on the right, I hope you can see it, it's quite a pale pink! The sentiment is from Seasons of Love - Tags.

For the magic swish I used the stars tree stamp from Teeny Trees from Waltzingmouse Stamps, stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed it with silver sparkle embossing powder.

Isabelle was quite impressed with my efforts, she has a wand just like it!! Don't forget to check out the rest of the Mischief Maker's and WMS DT creations at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!! : )

Just Us Girls {Color} Challenge #67

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

** Yay, I'm Chic of the week at Just Us Girls!! **

I couldn't resist the fab color challenge this week at Just Us Girls Challenge and the colors just happened to match the pretty digital papers I've been using from Sugar Blossom by Quirky Twerp at the Digichick. Here's the color palette.

I also got a chance to use some of the fab digital images from the Help for Katie set available from Jak Heath's website, you get such a wonderful collection of images and it's for a great cause. I used this adorable apron image from the set, how cute is it!! I printed it directly onto some pretty floral paper and cut out.

I painted the scallop trim on the apron with some white acrylic paint, I highlighted the ribbon sash in aqua and the little hearts using coral. The green dotty paper is also from the Sugar Blossom Paper Pack. I had the little heart brad in my stash, it matched perfectly!

The sentiment is two elements from the Around Christmastime stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I softened the edges a little with some blending chalk. The plain white just looked too stark.

I made a little matching gift tag and some customized pegs with cute mini bows. The sentiment is from the Frame-It set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. The aqua and white Baker's twine I bought from The Ribbon Reel.

I've been dying to make these little decorated pegs for ages, I have some ugly plastic ones clipped on to my noticeboard. I remembered seeing a tutorial at The Hybrid Chick on how to make them a while back, they're actually really easy and a great way to use up little scraps. I didn't have any Mod Podge so I improvised with some PVA and it worked really well. I painted a coat of it on the peg first, added my strip of paper and painted over it with another layer of PVA. I added some self adhesive magnet to the back so I could use them on the fridge too. I'll definitely be making more!

Supplies:

Card/Paper: White card, Sugar Blossom Paper Pack by Quirky Twerp from the Digichick
Stamps: Frame-It and Around Christmastime by Waltzingmouse Stamps, Help for Katie from Jak Heath
Ink: Black Archival Ink, TH Distress Ink - Antique Linen
Other: Wooden clothes pegs, peach seam binding, peach lace, aqua organza ribbon, aqua and white Baker's twine, acrylic paints, blending chalk, sticky fixers, heart brad, twine, sewing machine, Spellbinders Tags Trio, Die-cutting machine, self adhesive magnets strips.

Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz!!

Monday, January 17, 2011

My second post for today, make sure you scroll down for my Shabby Tea Room card! It's pink too!! : )

Yay! A blog waltz!!! It's Waltzingmouse Stamps and the theme is Valentine's/Love!! I love making Valentine's cards, it makes me so happy! I think it's all the pink, girly things you can use and totally get away with that I like! So, this card is pure indulgence, it's a pretty soft, romantic style and I enjoyed every minute of making it!

The sweet floral paper was my starting point, isn't it gorgeous! It's from Sugar Blossom paper pack by Quirky Twerp from The Digichick (thanks Donna for making this set I adore it!). Then I had my little cameo that I made from Fimo and a cute little mold from MinitureMold at Etsy as my focal point.

To frame the cameo I used Spellbinders Labels Fourteen and teamed that up with Holiday Labels No.14 from Waltzingmouse Stamps, stamped using Memento Angel Pink. Behind that I used one of the labels from Spellbinders Fancy Tags.

I cut out the oval in the centre and added some green paper stamped with Text-It from Waltzingmouse Stamps in VersaMagic Tea Leaves. I used the same ink pad to rub the edges of the cameo. The little flourish I used top and bottom is from (my fav stamp set!) Fancy Phrases also Waltzingmouse Stamps. I added a dusting of ultra fine glitter to the cameo and edges of the frame.

I used Spellbinders double ended tags for the label, stamped with a sentiment from Sweethearts by Waltzingmouse Stamps.  I distressed the edges a little with antique linen Distress Ink and I added a little more sparkle too, I did say this card was an indulgence! : ) A little more lace and some pom pom trim and I think we have most of my favorite things all in one card!!

I hope you're having fun, enjoy the rest of the Blog Waltz, I know I will be along with some chamomile tea and a fluffy blueberry pancake! yum! Have a lovely day! : )

Supplies:

Card/Paper: SugarBlossom by Quirky Twerp from The Digichick, white card
Stamps: Sweethearts, Holiday Labels No.14, Text-It, Fancy Phrases, all from Waltzingmouse Stamps
Ink: Memento Rose Bud, VersaMagic Tea Leaves, Archival Black ink, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Antique Linen
Other: white Fimo, cameo mold, (Spellbinders Double ended tags, Labels 14, Fancy Tags dies), die-cutting machine, sewing machine, dusky rose seam binding, twine, cream pom pom trim, ultra fine glitter, pink gathered lace, crochet lace, sticky fixers, white acrylic paint.

Love Birds!

I love this bird stamp from Inkadinkado, I don't usually buy red rubber stamps (I'm a clear stamp fan!) but this one I just couldn't resist!! So it was my inspiration for this week's Shabby Tea Room challenge - White and Bright, create a card or project using white or cream and one other color! I also used Ros's sketch this week at the City Crafter Challenge blog, it was such a fab sketch to work with!

Aren't they the sweetest birds, such a great illustration. I saw some pink striped fabric in Country Living magazine and it had a gorgeous deep pink image over-printed onto it. I just happened to have this striped pink paper from (the oh so gorgeous!) Sugar Blossom paper pack by Quirky Twerp at the Digichick, so I stamped my birdies using Memento Rose Bud ink over it.

I made the big flower from felt, I drew a simple petal shape to use as a template and cut out the felt. At the base of each petal I did a couple of stitches and threaded them all together, a little circle of felt glued to the back, pearl on top and voila! The pretty lace is from a lace and doily swap a while back. I stamped the scripted text in the background using a Prima clear stamp.

Stamped simply on a double ended Spellbinders tag is a sentiment from the Sweethearts stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. There's a little more lace there and a some pink and white Baker's twine from The Ribbon Reel. I quite like how this one turned out! : )

Don't forget to check out the gorgeous creations from the rest of the Shabby Girls! They're such a talented bunch!
