CASE Study #110

Thursday, September 27, 2012

It's our final week with Torico as our muse at CASE Study. Check out Torico's stunning inspiration card for her final week. Isn't it gorgeous!

I CASEd the use of black cardstock, the color combo, I focused on the colors used in the butterfly and amplified them, the distressing and use of Spellbinders Labels Fourteen dies.

The sentiment is from Say it Loud - Winter Holiday by Waltzingmouse Stamps, stamped using Coffee archival ink. The edges I distressed with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.

The Red Satin Ribbon and Lace are from Craft Fairy. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The yellow one was cream but I used Mustard Seed Distress Marker to color the centers of each layer and then spritzed with water to blend. The Cream Button Twine is from Waltzingmouse Stamps. The Champagne Pearl Trinket Pins are from my Etsy shop.

The background papers are from the Kraft Core Nostalgic Collection that I embossed and sanded lightly. For some more inspiration check out the creations from the CASE Study DT. Have a super day!

Operation Write Home Week Day 3

Wednesday, September 26, 2012

I'm back for Day 3 of the celebrations with Operation Write Home and SRM Stickers. Birthday's are our theme, so I decided to make something a little special. I drew the vase of flowers and colored them with watercolors, I added some highlights using Distress Markers to make the colors pop a little more.

I cut the sketch out and popped it onto some foam pads for just a little dimension. I thought some SRM fancy stickers would go well with this so I used the gorgeous Happy Birthday from Fancy Sticker Sentiment - Birthday from SRM Stickers.

The patterned paper is from Woodland Park by October Afternoon, I just love that shade of green, it's just so fresh!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the creations from the SRM design team on the SRM blog. Oh and check out Monday's post on the SRM blog for the challenge details to be in with a chance of winning an SRM Prize Package! (You have until the end of the week, so hurry and make your card!) I'll be back tomorrow with my CASE Study card. Have a lovely day! : )

Operation Write Home Week Day 1

Monday, September 24, 2012

Hi all! I'm participating in the Operation Write Home Week with SRM Stickers. Today we used this sketch as our inspiration.

The sentiment is from Sticker Sentiments - Happy Birthday from SRM Stickers.

The roses I sketched, colored and cut out. They're slightly propped up on some foam pads for a little dimension.

I used Spellbinders Fleur de lis Squares die for the background die cut. I just love the gorgeous detail in it!

I'll be back on Wednesday with another card for Operation Write Home. I hope you're having a great Monday!

CASE Study #109

Thursday, September 20, 2012

Hello! I hope you're having a great week. It's our third week with Torico as our muse at CASE Study. Here's Torico's inspiration card for this week.

I really love the great layout of Torico's card so I CASEd that, including the placement of the sentiment. I kept my card pretty CAS. I used one of the Fancy Sticker Sentiment - Birthday stickers from SRM Stickers.

The gorgeous flower stamp is from Petal Party by Nina B Designs from Penny Black. I stamped it in black onto some chartreuse colored patterned paper from the Konnichiwa Collection from Basic Grey. I colored the stem and leaves using Peeled Paint colored Distress Marker. I did a little fussy cutting and added it to some white card and adhered it to the card with foam pads.

I was also really inspired by the stunning colors of the Tuesday Trigger - 'Envy Becomes You' over at Moxie Fab World. What a gorgeous shade of green, I just love a blue and green color combo!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the creations from the CASE Study DT. Have a great day! : )

Waltzingmouse Stamps September Blog Party

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

I'm so glad to be joining in the Waltzingmouse Stamps September Blog party. The September theme is 'Fall'. Pumpkins came to mind for me so I decided to get a bit creative with my stamping and make some WMS pumpkins from various stamp sets!

For the main body of the pumpkins I used stamps from the 2011 Holiday Ornament from Waltzingmouse Stamps, I used Distress Markers (Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge) to color the stamps before stamping. Obviously I didn't color the whole stamp, I cropped it to make it look like a pumpkin (this was easy to do using the markers to color the stamp). The stems are the top piece of one of the 2011 Holiday Ornaments, stamped by coloring the stamp with Crushed Olive Distress Marker.

I fussy cut the pumpkins and rubbed the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The leaves are from Big Blooms - Poinsettias from Waltzingmouse Stamps, again colored with the Crushed Olive Distress Marker before stamping.

The sentiment is from Cicely at Halloween from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I really love the fonts used in this sentiment, I'd love some more stamps in this combo!

I added a little Cream Button Twine bow to the top of the larger pumpkin, just to add a little bit of texture to this CAS card. I hope you're enjoying the Blog Party, I'm off to have a peek at all the fabulous creations. Below are the stamp sets from Waltzingmouse Stamps that I used to make my card.

Nina B Designs - September Blog Hop

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Hello, everyone! After a much needed summer break, the NinaB Designs team is back to showcase some of Nina's designs for our monthly hop. Make sure you check out the new Summer CHA Releases by Spellbinders, Want2Scrap and Penny Black, and her monthly release by The Craft's Meow.
For this month's hop, Nina challenged us to create something with gift-giving in mind. For my project I made a notecard set focusing on the Spellbinders Homespun dies, I also used some of Nina's new Madison patterned papers from Penny Black.

I love the Spellbinders Homespun dies, I just love all the little elements. So for my little notecards I went with a country kitchen homespun style.

I love that pie die, I used Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Inks to make it look almost good enough to eat!  I added the little leaves from the same set, my mom would always make little pastry leaves and an apple to go on top of her apple pies! The green polka dot paper is from Simple Stories.

The sentiment 'Made for you from the heart' is from the Sew Lovely Stamp set from The Craft's Meow.

I love the lattice effect on this adorable basket also from the Spellbinders Homespun die set. The red patterned paper is from the Madison patterned paper pack from Penny Black. The sentiment is from Sent With Love from The Craft's Meow. The Red Satin ribbon is from Craft Fairy.

Again I inked the basket with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Inks and filled it with little flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. This basket would be great for Easter filled with little eggs!

I love the blue check patterned paper from the Madison papers, it has a lovely country feel! The little jar is from the same Spellbinders Homespun die set. The sentiment is from the Happiness is.. stamp set from The Craft's Meow.

To welcome you back to our hop, we are giving away these TWO PRIZE PACKAGES:

Prize #2 includes The Craft's Meow's Vintage Rides and Retired Layers of Colors Dotted Dahlias and Dotted Peonies Stamp sets:

Winners will be picked randomly from 2 of the designers' blogs:

Everybody is welcome to comment and eligible to win. Nina will announce the winners on September 22 on her blog. I hope we'll inspire you all today! Happy hopping!

Make Christmas Cards Magazine

Friday, September 14, 2012

Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine / Immediate Media (UK) have published a fabulous special magazine called Make Christmas Cards, it comes with lots of free goodies, including stamps, fabulous Christmas papers, toppers, greetings and a really cool double sided embossing board. I was really excited to contribute to this inspiring issue and delighted to see some of my cards on the cover! I have 11 cards and 4 non-card items in this issue. Here's a few of them!

Here's the cover card, all the patterned papers, toppers and sentiment come free with the magazine. I added my own lace, twine and card base.

These homespun style patterned papers are my favorites from the magazine. I used the double sided embossing board that also comes with the issue to hand emboss the JOY text. I hadn't done much hand embossing before but I was surprised at how easy it was and the great effects you can achieve especially with vellum/tracing paper.

I also used the embossing board with some foil to make the star on this card. The gorgeous papers again are from the magazine. The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

I really loved how everything co-ordinated so well, it made it very easy to design the cards. Here I layered one of the toppers and added a greeting on top.

Here's just one of the non-card items I made for this issue, a very easy to make gift bag. This is just a little glimpse into this jam-packed Christmas special issue. If you'd like to see more you can pick up a copy here. I'm sure you'll be inspired! : ) Thanks for dropping by! I'll be back tomorrow for the Nina B Designs blog hop.
