Waltzingmouse Stamps December Release Previews - Day 3

Friday, November 30, 2012

Welcome to day 3 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps December release previews. Tomorrow, Dec 1st four fabulous sets will be released. Today the team are previewing the set - Ornate Ornaments.

Ornate Ornaments is a fabulous set (another one of those must-haves), I love this set because there are three different shaped ornaments in it that co-ordinate with Spellbinders dies. I have two of the three dies but I'm sure I'll manage fine with the scissors on the third.

I think this is my favorite stamp, it's so classy, so timeless, so Waltzingmouse!  : ) Here I stamped it in Cherry Red and distressed the edges with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. The smaller ornament I stamped in Pistachio ink. This sentiment is from the same Ornate Ornaments set but the 'kisses' stamp is from Festive Foliage.

I also made a large tag using the largest stamp in the Ornate Ornaments set. This one's more subtly stamped using Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

The tag opens up for you to write your message inside. I die cut the ornament using a folded piece of cardstock to achieve the fold. I love the green on the inside of the tag.

I stamped the inside using more elements from the Ornate Ornaments set, the edges I inked with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo again.

The holly leaves I stamped and clear embossed using a stamp from Festive Foliage. I added some velvet ribbon for a touch of luxury! I hope you'll join us for the Release Day Blog Waltz tomorrow. Here are the ladies showing samples today. Thanks for dropping by and thank you for all your comments, I really appreciate them! : )

Waltzingmouse Stamps December Release Previews - Day 2

Thursday, November 29, 2012

If you're here for my CASE Study card scroll down to the next post. Welcome to day 2 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps December release previews. On Saturday December 1st four new fabulous sets will be released. Today the team are previewing the sets - My Heart and Woodenheart Alphabet. In my first card I used stamps from the My Heart stamp set, this set is just jam packed with elements and it's so much fun to stamp with! There are 6 heart stamps in this set and lots of sentiments.

The outer heart wreath I stamped using Cherry Red ink and the inside is stamped using Angel Pink ink. The sentiment is from the same set. I kept the rest of the card pretty simple to really highlight the stamps. The woodgrain effect runs through all the heart elements in this set.

I love this groovy heart stamp, again the inside is stamped with a separate woodgrain heart from the same set. Near the top in pink I stamped the long foliage border stamp, you can just see half here.

I think this set may just be my favorite from this release, I can just see so many possibilities with it! I embossed some kraft card with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and added some pink and white baker's twine. The sentiment is from the same set.

Another gorgeous heart stamp, this one is actually made up of three, inserted into each other. The woodgrain tag is from yesterday's preview Woodgrain Backgrounder, stamped in Angel Pink.

On my last card I used both sets, My Heart and Woodenheart Alphabet, I used the alphabet stamps to make the sentiment. The hearts are again stamped, layered and cut out.

I love the detail in this set and how all the hearts can fit into one another, there's just so many combinations you could have.

Here's a review of my little love notecards! I couldn't fit them all in one shot! I do love this set!!

I'll be back tomorrow to preview a fabulous Christmas set, that I know you're gonna want! Here are the ladies showing samples today.

CASE Study #119

Apologies for the photo, I ran out of daylight so I had to take it on the windowsill. It's pretty much impossible to take a decent photo past 4pm these days! It's our final week with the talented Angeline Yong as our muse at CASE Study! It's been a fabulous month of inspiration. Check out Angeline's card this week.

I CASEd the background color, Swiss Dots embossing folder, layout and position of sentiment but I went for a more shabby, feminine look.

The cameo I made with a silicone mold, polymer clay and I painted it. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. I layered the cameo onto a die cut oval on top of an Artisan Element from Pink Paislee.

The trinket pins are from my Etsy shop, Powder Blue Pearl Trinket Pins and Salmon Pink Pearl and Crystal Trinket Pins.

The sentiment is from the Camellia Stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. Don't forget to check out the creations from the rest of the CASE Study design team, they are amazing! I'll be back in just a little while with my samples for the Waltzingmouse Stamps December Release Day 2 previews.

Waltzingmouse Stamps December Release Previews - Day 1

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Welcome to day 1 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps December release previews. On December 1st four fabulous new stamp sets will be released. Today the WMS design team are previewing the new - Woodgrain Backgrounder Set. I love this set, not only do you get a giant woodgrain background stamp, you also get five other woodgrain stamps in various shapes. For my first card, I had fun with Distress Inks and went for a more shabby look. Claire totally inspired me the other day with her Poinsettia cards! I colored mine using Distress Markers - Barn Door, Fired Brick, Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss.

The Poinsettia stamp is from Big Blooms - Poinsettias, Claire also has free cut files for these now too, I'm still using my scissors!! : ) The sentiment is a mix of two stamp sets, the 'Merry Christmas' is from another of the new sets Ornate Ornaments and the 'Mom' is from the previously released Roses in Bloom stamped in Cherry Red. My next card uses one of the woodgrain shapes from the Woodgrain Backgrounder Set, a fabulous hexagon, love this stamp!

I stamped the woodgrain hexagons from the Woodgrain Backgrounder Set in Cherry red, Tea Leaves and a mix of two inks (Bahama Blue and Cottage Ivy) onto white card and cut out. I did emboss the white part of the card Swiss Dots but you can't see it in the photo.

The sentiment is from Compact Sentiments stamped onto a Spellbinders die cut grommet tag, tied on using some green and white baker's twine. My last card was largely experimental... I've seen a few cards around using a chalkboard/blackboard effect and fancied giving it a go!

I used quite a mix of stamps here but the banner woodgrain stamp layered on top of the label is the one from the new Woodgrain Backgrounder Set. I actually quite like the effect but I think I need to experiment more!

Other stamps I used on this card, the frame is from Paris Nouveau, the text is from Compliments of the Season, the Christmas text and Santa and reindeers are from Twas the night before Christmas. There's also a little bit of Nordic Winter in the background! I used Moonlight White pigment ink for the inked edges. Here are the ladies sharing samples today. I'll be back tomorrow with some 'lovely' cards... think hearts! : )

SRM Stickers - Gift Card holders

Monday, November 26, 2012

Here's a peek at one of the gift card holders I made for the SRM blog today. These tag type holders have a little pocket on the front and are very quick to make.

SRM Stickers used here -  Sticker Sentiments - Happy Holidays (51001). I just added the sticker to some white cardstock and trimmed around the edges.

This little sentiment is from the same sticker set. The patterned papers are from an issue of Crafts Beautiful magazine (UK). The Dotty Ribbon is from Craft Fairy. Visit the SRM Stickers Blog to see the rest of my gift card holders and for more details. It's turned pretty chilly here in Ireland but at least it's dry! : ) Stay warm wherever you are. Have a great day!

12 Tags of 2012 - November

Friday, November 23, 2012

I hope all of my friends in the US had a lovely Thanksgiving yesterday! I had so much fun making Tim Holtz's October tag last month, I was determined to make the time to play along again this month. I was delighted to find out I was one of the winners for the October tags too! Check out Tim's amazing tag for November. He used a clear embossing resist technique, lots of fun!

My first attempt at the tag was a bit of a flop, I didn't use a light enough cardstock (I used a Kraft cardstock) and the result wasn't as effective. So I gave it another go, I also learned from the first attempt that once you iron the tag to remove the embossing ink that the color dulls quite a bit, so I made the colors more vibrant before I ironed it. It turned out much better! I didn't have have all the materials Tim used so I improvised a bit. The sentiment stamp is from Say it Loud - Winter Holiday and the foliage stamp is from Festive Foliage both from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

There's nothing more satisfying than dying seam binding with Distress Stains, the results are so vibrant. On this tag I used the following Distress Stains, Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door, Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain. I also used some Distress Inks, Antique Linen, Old Paper and Vintage Photo. The sentiment I stamped using Jet Black archival ink. I didn't have any leaf dies so I sketched a few on some Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection cardstock and cut them out. I also used some Coffee archival ink to stamp some extra bits of foliage in the background. I used the same technique on my next tag, I just made this one Christmassy!

I love how this one turned out! I used the same resist technique for the background, I stamped some music sheet as my resist element, it's a bit more subtle. I used Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint, Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Stains on this tag. Then I used Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy and Vintage Photo Distress Inks on the edges. The sentiments I stamped using Jet Black and the background elements I stamped using Coffee ink.

The pretty Poinsettia flower is by Petaloo. The little twine bow is a bit of stained twine I took apart. The stamps are from Marianne Design Eline's Huis Jingle set. There's some Spellbinders foliage in there too! Here's some detail of the resist elements, it's such a cool technique. Don't forget to check out Tim's blog for all the steps, he makes it so easy!

I don't know about you but when I play with the Distress Stains and inks I have less of a desire to make CAS cards. There I said it! : )

Ok, I'm off to prepare some samples for the next Waltzingmouse Stamps release, you're going to LOVE the new stamps! Oh, if you're looking for Distress Stains, Inks etc Blitsy have some great deals at the moment, I just placed an order!! ssshhhh! : )

CASE Study #118

Thursday, November 22, 2012

It's our fourth week at CASE Study with the amazing Angeline Yong as our muse. I stepped outside my comfort zone with this card and created a one layer, all stamped card *gasp*, I know, not an embellishment in sight! Check out Angeline's super card.

I was really inspired by the stamping and the layout with central focal point. Instead of autumn leaves I used some Festive Foliage from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I did practice my stamping arrangement on a scrap piece of paper first. I wasn't that brave!

The dark green leaves I stamped using Memento Cottage Ivy, the lighter green leaves I stamped using Mowed Lawn Distress Ink but when I was stamping it I stamped it first on a scrap piece of paper to give a lighter result with the second impression. The sentiment is from Say it Loud - Winter Holiday from Waltzingmouse Stamps, stamped in Jet Black and Cherry Red.

I think it's the little pops of red that bring this card alive. I'm actually pretty happy with how this one turned out considering I hardly ever do one layer cards! I can't wait to see what the rest of the CASE Study DT have cooked up for you! Isabelle's all better now, she enjoyed the cookies (we all did!).

November 2012 Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party

Sunday, November 18, 2012

It's an awful dreary day here, raining buckets! It's only three in the afternoon and it's almost dark. I'm looking forward to a nice cup of tea by the fire later (after I bake the peanut butter cookies Isabelle keeps asking me for!). Anyway, here's my card for the November Waltzingmouse Stamps blog party, I made it just in time! The theme is gratitude, so I made a thank you card.

I used an inspiration photo (it's at the end of this post) for the colors in my card, lovely rich jewel tones, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to mix the colors successfully but I think I just about managed it!

For the purple panel I stamped the gorgeous Vintage Christmas Backgrounder (I love how this stamp covers the whole length of my card!) onto purple cardstock from the Core'dinations Vintage Collection and embossed using Butterscotch embossing powder from Ranger. The sentiment is from the Camellia stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. The yellow cardstock is also from the Core'dinations Vintage Collection.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Craft, the bright Pink Satin Ribbon is from Craft Fairy and the Light Cream Pearl Trinket Pins are from my Etsy shop.

The edges of the sentiment label I inked with some Antique Linen Distress Ink. I hope you're enjoying the blog party! Here's the inspiration photo I used for my card. Enjoy the rest of the day, I'm off to make some soup AND the peanut butter cookies! : )

NinaB Designs November 2012 Blog Hop

Friday, November 16, 2012

Welcome to the November NinaB Designs team blog hop. NinaB Designs is a product designer for a few paper crafting companies including Spellbinders, Want2ScrapPenny Black, and The Craft's Meow. For this month's hop, Nina challenged us to create something with Winter and Holidays in mind.

For my card I combined two gorgeous stamp sets from The Craft's Meow, Season's Greetings and Vintage Ornaments. To create the background I stamped the round ornament from Vintage Ornaments in a repeat pattern using Cherry Red ink. I distressed the edges using Antique Linen Distress Ink. I also used Spiced Marmalade Distress Marker on the edge of the label.

I really wanted this card to have a nice warm glow, I wasn't sure if the burnt orange and rich red color combo would work but I love how it turned out. Stamping the ornate label from Season's Greetings in the same shade of red really brought the look together. Here are the products I used for my project:

Season's Greetings from The Craft's Meow

Vintage Ornaments from The Craft's Meow
