Just popping in with a quick card for the CR84FN Color Challenge (CR84FN21). The colors were definitely a challenge for me but I thought I'd give them a go anyway. I love the green but I think it's any shade of red that scares me!! Here's the color palette.

I used the sketch from Sketchbook Saturday Saturday Challenge #4 as my starting point.

I like to get a good bit of use out of the stamps I buy, this birds one by Inkadinkado I bought for Valentine's with love birds in mind but it's such a lovely image I think I could use it for other occasions too! I stamped it directly onto a doily here.

The leafy branches are a rub on (can't remember who makes it!) the color was a perfect match! I used Bitty Banners from Waltzingmouse Stamps for the tag and the sentiment is from Fancy Phrases also Waltzingmouse Stamps.

The music ribbon I had in my stash (I'm finding lots of things since my clear out!!) I have lots of clear jars for my ribbons, buttons and flowers so I can see what I have at a glance now! Makes life a bit easier!

The background papers are Webster's Pages and October Afternoon. Ok, enjoy the rest of your day, I've still lots to do!

Card/Paper: White card, cream card, Webster's Pages, October Afternoon The Thrift Shop, green digi paper
Stamps: Birds Inkadinkado, Bitty Banners and Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps
Ink: Ink it Up Burgundy, Black archival ink, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen
Other: Doily, sewing machine, button, music note ribbon, rub on branch.

Friend of Mine

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

The postman brought me a lovely packet this morning, inside was the Crate Paper Friend of Mine Kit available from The Craft's Meow I can't wait to use the gorgeous Crate papers but I had to use this lovely 'Friend of mine' stamp included in the kit! It's so pretty and designed by Claire Brennan. I also made this card with this week's challenge (CCCB#50) at the City Crafter Challenge blog in mind, the theme is 'Celebrate Good Times', you have to include a banner or the word 'party' on your project. I also used the colors from this week's challenge at The Play Date Cafe (PDCC74).

The label is from Very Vintage Labels No.18 from Waltzingmouse Stamps, stamped in VersaMagic Pretty Petunia. I cut the label out by hand. As I mentioned the sentiment is from The Craft's Meow. The background is plain white card embossed with Swiss Dots embossing folder. I made a double bow from white seam binding and added a fabric covered button.

The banner I made using Bitty Banners from Waltzingmouse Stamps. The butterfly at the end is from the same set as the sentiment Friend of Mine. The background paper is stamped with text from Text-It by Waltzingmouse Stamps. The blue stripe paper is from a digital set but I can't remember which, it was in my scraps box! Must dash, should be working on a quilling project!!

Card/Paper: White card, blue and white stripe digi paper
Stamps: Bitty Banners, Text-It, Very Vintage Banners No.18 from Waltzingmouse Stamps, Friend of Mine stamp from The Crafts Meow
Ink: Black archival ink, VersaMagic Pretty Petunia
Other: Swiss dots embossing folder, die-cutting machine, sewing machine, lavender embroidery floss, blue beads, fabric covered button, white seam binding, foam pads.

Mother's Day

Monday, March 28, 2011

Mother's Day is the 3rd of April here in Ireland and in the UK, so I made this card for my mom. She loves warm colors especially sunny yellow hues and warm reds. The color challenge this week at Color Combos Galore #185 was just the perfect palette for my card, the challenge also included the use of some non-traditional pattern.

I also used the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge  (SSSC110) as my starting point.

The flower I made using Tim Holtz Sizzix Bigz Die - Tattered Florals. The paper is from an old Cosmo Cricket set Honey Pie but I only discovered it recently! The centre is a fabric covered button from my stash.

The wooden leaves are from Kaisercraft. The edges are brown so I'm hoping that counts as my brown color for the color palette!

The yellow paper is also from Honey Pie by Cosmo Cricket. I just added some texture using Swiss Dots embossing folder and lightly sanded the top.

The labels are all from Very Vintage Labels No.18 by Waltzingmouse Stamps stamped in lemon yellow. I cut them out by hand because I don't have that die, not too tricky though! The sentiment is from Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps.

Now, we're off out to the garden to make the most of the sunshine, planting some potatoes and onions in the veggie patch.... it's back to the usual rain tomorrow. Have a lovely day! : )

Card/Paper: Honey Pie Cosmo Cricket, white card
Stamps: Very Vintage Labels No.18 and Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps
Ink: Impress Lemon yellow, Black archival ink, TH distress ink Antique Linen
Other: Kaiser Craft Wood Flourishes, sewing machine, swiss dots embossing folder, die-cutting machine, fabric brad, Sizzix Bigz Die - Tattered Florals.

Cheery banner!

Saturday, March 26, 2011

Hello! Sorry it's been a little quiet around here, I didn't have as much time as I'd like crafting during the week. I finally managed to get rid of the chest infection that was hanging on to me. It was driving me nuts that it was sunny and dry outside and I couldn't do any gardening! My poor little Isabelle wasn't well either and needed lots more love and attention but she's on the mend now. She helped me plant some bedding plants and sow some seeds in the garden today, we even saw some butterflies fluttering about! Anyway, here's my card for this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge (WMSC40), I think it has a spring/summer feel to it! Here's this week's sketch.

Usually when I see a color palette with really bright colors I'd avoid it but I decided to give this one from The Color Room a go. I'm glad I did, my card turned out really cheery!

The 'oh so cute' crochet flowers are from fellow Irish lady Carmen at Annie Design on Etsy.... oh she has the most adorable crochet butterflies, I just got some, I LOVE them, they're just so sweet!! I added the little daisy buttons to the centers of the flowers.

For the banner I used Vintage Banners from Waltzingmouse Stamps stamped in yellow. The pink paper is from Honey-Pie by Cosmo Cricket, I stamped a little text on it in white using Text-It also from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

The sentiment is also from Vintage Banners by Waltzingmouse Stamps, I stamped it directly using black ink. I added a little white acrylic paint around the edges of the card and banner.

Apologies for the poor photos, the sun had gone down when I took the photos, so the lighting is artificial. You have to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the Mischief Makers and some of the WMS DT at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, they're amazing!!  Have a fabulous weekend!!

Card/Paper: White card, Honey-Pie by Cosmo Cricket
Stamps: Vintage Banners and Text-It from Waltzingmouse Stamps
Ink: Black Archival Ink, Impress Lemon yellow
Other: Crochet flowers from Annie Design at Etsy, red gingham ribbon, white seam binding, white acrylic paint, daisy buttons, sewing machine.

Silhouette with quilled flower

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

I had a little time to craft today, feeling a bit under the weather so not fit for gardening even though the weather is beautiful! I've had this silhouette die from Marianne Design for a while now but haven't used it much, isn't it pretty! I combined a couple of challenges too, the colors are from CR84FN Color Challenge.

The sketch is from Card Patterns #107.

I found the colors a little bit tricky so I balanced it with a neutral. The text print is from 7Gypsies Conservatory collection. The silhouette is cut from Prima Melody paper. The ribbon I dyed with a lavender ink pad. To pretty it up a bit I added a sweet quilled flower to the silhouette.

I stamped the labels in lavender using Very Vintage Labels No.18 by Waltzingmouse Stamps and cut out by hand.

I added a little vintage lace that I received in a lace swap a while ago from Sylvia Nelson, it's a fabulous piece of lace! The sentiment on the double ended tag is from Frame-It by Waltzingmouse Stamps.

Card/Paper: Prima Melody, 7Gypsies Conservatory Collection, Webster's Pages, Anna Griffin
Stamps: Frame-It, Very Vintage Labels No.18 both Waltzingmouse Stamps
Ink: Versa Magic  Spring Pansy, Black Archival Ink
Other: Vintage Lace, lavender pearl beads, twine, Spellbinders double ended tag die, die-cutting machine, sewing machine, quilling papers in lavender and cream, quilling tool, white seam binding.

Wedding set

Monday, March 21, 2011

I have a little project in the current issue (90) of Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine (UK). I was commissioned to do a commemorative project for the royal wedding (William & Kate), I had to make a wedding card, a photo frame, invitation and matching envelope and some mini-bunting. Most of the products I used are from the Kaisercraft English Rose Collection.

The roses I made using Tim Holtz Bigz Die - Tattered Florals and some of the pretty papers from the English Rose Collection. I did a little fussy cutting using one of the floral images and layered my flowers on top for added dimension.

Here's the complete project. I added a lot of gold embossing using the matching stamp set to the papers. I altered a frame, added more of the foliage I cut out and the roses I made.

I kept the invitation (to watch the wedding at your house!) pretty simple, just using the rose stamp as a focal point and repeating it on the front of the envelope. I added a little wax seal to the back.

Here's the project in the magazine, there's another page after these two with step-by-step instructions.

For full details and lots more inspiration check out the current issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine (UK).

Girlie banner (WMSC39)

Saturday, March 19, 2011

I love this week's new sketch from the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! I'm definitely enjoying the banner trend at the moment AND I'm so glad Claire designed some gorgeous banner stamps! Here's the sketch.

I also used this week's color challenge from Color Combos Galore #184, the challenge also included the option of using sheer ribbon or fabric. I used a little pink organza ribbon on my card.

So, for the banner I used the pretty scalloped banner from Vintage Banners by Waltzingmouse Stamps, stamped with some white acrylic paint and cut out by hand... it didn't take that long! : ) Inside that I stamped a smaller banner from Bitty Banners also by Waltzingmouse Stamps. The little motif is from Very Vintage Labels No.18 from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

The papers are from BoBunny Gabrielle and Prima Melody. For the dots I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder and rubbed with sandpaper.

The sentiment is from Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps, I stamped it twice, once in pink and once in black, slightly off register. You can see a little of the background paper that I stamped with white acrylic paint using Text-It also from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

At the top I added some lace bows, some torn seam binding bows and a touch of organza ribbon topped with some little paper roses. Don't forget to check out the fabulous creations from the Mischief Makers and some of the WMS DT at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. Enjoy your weekend!! : )

Card/Paper: Prima Melody, BoBunny Gabrielle, white card
Stamps: Vintage Banners, Bitty Banners, Fancy Phrases, Text-It, Very Vintage Labels No.18 all from Waltzingmouse Stamps
Ink: Black archival ink,  Memento Rose Bud, Angel pink
Other: White acrylic paint, sewing machine, paper roses, Swiss Dots embossing folder, die-cutting machine, lemon seam binding, white lace, pink organza ribbon.

Happy St.Patrick's Day!!

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Happy St.Patrick's Day!!! I hope you're enjoying the Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz!! I managed to get a card done, I wanted to do two cards (using both of Claire's St.Patrick's Day digis) but I was over ambitious! Ran out of time! So I went with the ol' shamrocks... gotta love 'em!! (shamrocks digital stamp available free here!)

I colored them using simple watercolors, I'm quite happy with the results! The background papers are 7Gypsies Conservatory and the green one is Webster's Pages. I know the sentiment isn't WMS... sorry! Didn't have another one!

I did stamp the tag with a section of a label from Very Vintage Labels No.18 in Sage ink. I added a little green seam binding bow and an emerald trinket pin that I made!!

I distressed the edges with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in antique linen for a nice vintage look. Ok, enjoy the rest of the Blog Waltz!! And have a lovely St.Patrick's Day!! : ) We're off to see the St.Patrick's Day parade in my home town of Tralee, Niall's in the parade every year as part of the Reserve Defense Forces. Isabelle loves seeing her daddy in the parade and waving her Irish flag at him!! Looks like it'll be dry but chilly, so we'll wrap up warm!

Butterfly card

Monday, March 14, 2011

My second post for today, if you're here for my Shabby Tea Room post scroll down. I'm a big fan of butterflies and I spotted a dedicated Butterfly Blog Linky Party at Eva Dobilas blog and I just had to play along. Who doesn't love butterflies. I've lots of work to do but when I feel like I'm loosing my mojo I make a card for fun... no pressure on what the end result looks like!!

The gorgeous butterfly die cut is from Marianne Design, I love it but it's a little tricky to remove from the die sometimes. The papers I used are from the Prima Melody collection. I added a little bit of bling to the centre.

For the sentiment from Frame-It by Waltzingmouse Stamps I layered up some of the sweet banners from Bitty Banners by Waltzingmouse Stamps, I love the sweet polka dots!!

I layered pieces of soft turquoise and pink lace and threaded some buttons in similar tones on some natural twine.

For the panel at the bottom I used some of the pink paper from Prima Melody and embossed it with the Swiss dots embossing folder and lightly sanded the tops of the dots. I love this soft color combo!!

Oh, don't forget the Friends of Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz (hop) on Thursday March 17th - St.Patrick's Day is the theme!! Oh and Claire has a fabby FREE St.Patrick's Day digi on her blog for you to use, so go grab it! : )
