Monday, June 27, 2011

**Super excited to be Moxie Fabber of the Week at Moxie Fab World!!! Can you believe it, I can't!!**

It's time for another new challenge at the Ribbon Reel Challenge blog, check out the inspiration photo on the blog. You can pick any colors from the photo to make your card. I used a pretty floral paper (The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady) that came free with an issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine (UK).

The pretty rose and cherry blossom are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The sentiment is from Celebrating you stamp set from the Craft's Meow. I stamped it onto one of the labels from Bitty Banners by Waltzingmouse Stamps. The lace butterfly I bought on ebay and dyed with coffee. The touch of white lace is Guipure lace from The Ribbon Reel.

I pleated some yellow and white stripe twill and sewed it on the sewing machine. The lace was white crochet lace that I dyed with coffee. I also added a length of Ambrosia colored seam binding above the pleated ribbon.

Under the cluster of flowers I added two seam binding bows, one in cream and one that I scrunched in cameo beige both from The Ribbon Reel. The little pearl trinket pin I made.

Don't forget to check out the wonderful creations from the rest of the DT and play along to be in with a chance of winning some gorgeous goodies from The Ribbon Reel. Sorry this is a little short, on vacation/holiday in Donegal!! : )

It's time for another new sketch at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, a tricky sketch this week so I decided to go for a fun and cute card. I kept the colors bright and simple, Memento Rose Bud and Pear Tart. Here's the sketch, by the lovely Belinda.

The background paper I stamped using the cute star from Bitty Banners by Waltzingmouse Stamps. The green gingham I stamped using the Gingham & Co stamp set.

I stamped the little tag banners using Bitty Banners, the sentiments are from Half Pint Heroes by Waltzingmouse Stamps, I love the font in this stamp set, it's just perfect for fun and cute cards!

Don't forget to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the Mischief Makers and some of the WMS DT at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge and play along to be in with a chance of winning a stamp set of your choice!

This is a scheduled post, hopefully we're on our way to Donegal by now, stopping for a picnic along the way of course! : ) I thought I'd share a photo of Isabelle from her recent birthday, she loved those floating balloons! Have a great weekend!

felt flower

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

It's been a bit of an odd day, blogger has been acting a bit funny (problems with uploading photos) and my mojo seems to have disappeared too! Anyway, I struggled on with this card. I found a great tutorial on how to make this felt flower at How Joyful blog, Joy has some great flower tutorials, I can't wait to try the rose one!

It does involve a bit of sewing but not too much. The leaves I stamped using the Roses in Bloom stamp set by Waltzingmouse Stamps. I also embossed a pretty doily from Dainty Doilies -Large set by Waltzingmouse Stamps. The background is stamped using Gingham & Co by Waltzingmouse Stamps.

The sentiment is from Fancy Phrases and the little label is from the Bitty Banners stamp set both Waltzingmouse Stamps. The felt border I die cut using the Marianne design lace border die. Papers are from Prima Botanical and 7Gypsies Conservatory Collection.

It's Isabelle's last day of pre-school tomorrow! We're off on a little holiday (vacation) to Donegal on Saturday, staying at a lovely house on the beach, hopefully we'll get a bit of nice weather but this is Ireland so we'll be prepared for all weather! : ) A few cards to prepare before we go! Here's hoping blogger is fixed soon!

52 weeks of Waltzingmouse sketches!!!

Saturday, June 18, 2011

This week at The Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge we're celebrating 52 weeks of sketches!! I can't believe we've done that many sketches already!! (Ok I started around week 8 or 9 so I haven't done them all but I've been around for most of them!!) So we were each asked to pick one of our favorite sketches from all the sketches, not an easy task as I really like a lot of them but I managed to narrow it down. I picked sketch 12, a nice versatile sketch! This week we ask you to pick one of your favorite sketches from any of the previous 51 sketches (you can see them all here in the gallery) to make your card. Fun!!

Again, I'm trying to create more background papers by stamping. So I started with some plain cream card and stamped the polka dot stamp from Gingham & Co by Waltzingmouse Stamps in a light pink. Over that I lightly stamped some text from Text-It in Antique Linen and then stamped the flowers from Roses in Bloom in red.

I stamped the label in red using Holiday Labels No.14 by Waltzingmouse Stamps and the fab bold sentiment is from Say it Loud (love that set!). The colors I used this week are from Color Combos Galore #197, I was a little scared by the red but I gave it a go anyway!

Oh yea, this week Julia has a little give away on her own blog, with a chance to win the Say it Loud stamp set (don't miss out if you don't already have this set, I use it all the time!!) Check out her blog at Create with Julia.

Don't forget to check out the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog to see what sketches the rest of the team picked and their amazing creations! I can't wait to see what your favorite sketch is!

We're off to Tralee (my hometown) to check out a garden festival that's on this weekend in the town park. Should be fun, there's a craft fair, pipe bands, a dog show, flower arranging and lots more. Here's hoping it stays dry, we'll bring the umbrellas anyway! : ) Have a nice weekend!

Card/Paper: Cream card
Stamps: Gingham & Co, Say it Loud, Holiday Labels No.14, Roses in Bloom and Text-it by Waltzingmouse Stamps

A bit more cardboard...

Friday, June 17, 2011

My second post for today! Here I used the die cut piece of cardboard from the previous card inked with a little white, I also cut a smaller shape to nest inside using Spellbinders Labels 18, I removed the top layer from the cardboard to reveal the corrugated card inside, I rubbed a little white acrylic paint over the top. I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch 195 as my starting point... it evolved a bit!

I also used the gorgeous photo from this week's challenge #66 at The Shabby Tea Room as inspiration, I just love these colors!! (Pink, green, neutrals and flowers)

I used lots of layers here. The green background paper is from Prima Botanical. The other background paper I made by stamping doilies from Dainty Doilies -Large Set by Waltzingmouse Stamps and some text on some cream card. I die cut some pretty pink felt using a Marianne design lace border die. The rose is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The little butterfly is a lace applique I bought on ebay, it was white and I aged it with some Antique linen ink and spritzed it with some Glimmer mist.

The sentiment is from Say it Loud by Waltzingmouse Stamps and the label is from Timeless Tags by The Craft's Meow. The twisted burlap twine is from The Ribbon Reel.

I really like how this one turned out, it might be that I just love these colors though! I'll definitely be using more cardboard though, love the texture! I'll be back tomorrow with my card for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.

Card/Paper: Cardboard, cream card, Prima Botanical paper
Stamps: Say it Loud and Dainty Doilies Large Set by Waltzingmouse Stamps, Timeless Tags TCM, Crafty Secrets Artsy Banners
Ink: VersaMagic Sage, Memento Angel Pink, Distress Ink Antique Linen, Archival Ink Coffee, White ink
Other: Sewing machine, lace applique, rose from Wild Orchid Crafts, seam binding, trinket pin, Spellbinders Labels 18, grommet tags, Marianne Design lace border die, twisted burlap, pearls, pink felt.

Playing with cardboard!

I had some extra crafting time the past few days, I pulled something in my leg while (lifting something a bit too heavy!) in the garden. Nothing too serious, it's just a bit swollen and painful but I'm trying to rest it a bit. Which means no gardening or exercise for a few days... ugh! Anyway, Isabelle got a new 'big' bed for her birthday from her generous nana and it came packed in lots of cardboard. I kept some of it and put the rest in the recycling. A little while ago I made some tags from cardboard, attempting to give them a vintage look with some brown ink and stamping. Here's one.

I highlighted a few details with a white pen. I love turquoise with cardboard, here I used some acrylic inks to dye some plain white lace and seam binding. I really liked this tag, so it inspired me to make a card in a similar style.

The label is from Bitty Banners by Waltzingmouse Stamps and I just masked the end to create the double ended label. The sentiment is from the Roses in Bloom set also Waltzingmouse Stamps. The paper in the recessed area is from 7Gypsies Conservatory collection, I stamped some butterflies using acrylic paint from Friend of Mine set by The Craft's Meow.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts (I love their flowers!!). The trinket pin I made and the seam binding I dyed using Acrylic ink.

I'm attempting to do more background stamping, still learning though!! The pretty floral stamp, roses and butterfly are from a Marianne design stamp set and the text is from Crafty Secrets Artsy Banners. I cut out the central panel using Spellbinders Labels 18. In the next card I'm about to post you'll see where I used the bit I cut out!! : )

Card/Paper: White card, 7Gypsies Conservatory Collection, cardboard
Stamps: Bitty Banners and Roses in Bloom by Waltzingmouse Stamps, Marianne Design stamps, Friend of Mine by TCM, Crafty Secrets Artsy Banners

A few cards...

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

I have a few cards in the current Issue 93 of Cardmaking & Papercraft (UK). This trio I made using the gorgeous BoBunny Gabrielle Collection papers.

They were pretty quick to make, the papers are so fab it made my life a bit easier! Here I just added the sentiment from Fancy Phases by Waltzingmouse Stamps, a seam binding bow and I cut out a little orange tip butterfly.

Here I just used the scalloped edge of the paper as a feature, punched two holes and threaded some seam binding through and tied a bow. The sentiment is from Bountiful Baskets Additions and the label is from Very Vintage Labels No.18 both Waltzingmouse Stamps.

Here I made a simple flower using the Sizzix Bigz Tattered Florals Die and some text print paper from the BoBunny Gabrielle Collection.

I added a brad to the centre and made two loops from teal seam binding for the leaves. I love this flower!

I had one more card in this issue, a fun 4th of July card. The background stars and tails I stamped using Bitty Banners by Waltzingmouse Stamps. The badge is just made up of circles of card, the text I printed on the computer. That's all for now, have a great day! : )

Sunny flower!

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Hi there! Well we had some sunshine today before the clouds rolled in bringing more rain! I managed to plant a few things I had in pots, they look happier now they've got their roots in the ground! I made a sunny card in hope of more sunshine! The fab sunflower is a digital stamp from Paper Garden Projects called Sunny Flowers Digital Stamp Set available at The Digichick.

I printed the sunflower out twice and colored loosely with watercolors. I cut each flower out and layered them together. The sunflower centre is a large fabric covered button that was beige and I rubbed with coffee ink. The leaves are from Roses in Bloom by Waltzingmouse Stamps stamped onto patterned paper from Crate Paper Portrait Collection. The sketch I used is this week's sketch #15 from Sketchbook Saturday Challenge.

The sentiment is from my favorite sentiment set Say it Loud by Waltzingmouse Stamps. I stamped it with VersaMark and heat embossed in white.

The dotty paper is from Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe. The cute little bee is from the Happiness is... Stamp Set from The Craft's Meow, I used a foam pad to add dimension. I added the little flight trail with a white pen... just for fun! : )

These wouldn't be colors I'm that comfortable with but I try and step outside by comfort zone every now and again! The yellow dotty ribbon is from The Ribbon Reel.

The Ribbon Reel - Challenge #4

Sunday, June 12, 2011

It's time for another new challenge at The Ribbon Reel, this week's challenge is a color challenge - Blue, Kraft, Black and Grey/Silver with the added option to make a father's day/masculine card. Here's the inspiration photo.

Luckily I bought these pretty Maya Road Kraft envelopes online recently. Kraft products are a little hard to get here. The sentiment is from Say it Loud by Waltzingmouse Stamps, I embossed it in white. The postage mark stamp is from Crafty Secrets Artsy Banners. The little flowers I stamped in white ink, I also rubbed the edges of the envelope with white ink. I swapped the twine that came with the envelope with some blue and white baker's twine from The Ribbon Reel.

The pretty blue flower and little flower are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The trinket pin I made. I used a silver edged satin ribbon and mesh blue ribbon from The Ribbon Reel for the bows.

I added a little bit of silver by embossing a little butterfly, the stamp is from a Marianne Design stamp set. The polka dots I stamped in blue using the Gingham & Co stamps by Waltzingmouse Stamps.

The little envelope still opens so you can add a gift card or a gift of money inside. I carefully attached the flowers and bows to the lid of the envelope.

To play along visit The Ribbon Reel Challenge blog, there's another great prize up for grabs this week. The rest of the DT have some fabulous creations to inspire you. Have a great day! : )

WMSC51... felt flowers

Saturday, June 11, 2011

It's time for another sketch (WMSC51) at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, this week's sketch is by the talented Belinda Chang Langner. Isn't it great! I added a few extra bits to mine... I'm not one for keeping things simple! : )

The color inspiration came from this week's Tuesday Trigger Cosmopolitan Neapolitan at Moxie Fab World. I just love these colors together.

The sweet felt flowers I made using Sizzix Bigz Die - Flowers 3D. I did add little dots of fabric glue as I rolled the flower to keep it securely together. I love the soft texture of them.

I recycled some cardboard for the die cut label (Spellbinders Labels 18), stamped with Very Vintage Labels No.18 by Waltzingmouse Stamps in VersaMark and embossed with white embossing powder. (This week's challenge at The Shabby Tea Room is embossing)

The little tag is stamped using Bitty Banners by Waltzingmouse Stamps and the sentiment stamped in Coffee Archival Ink is from Roses in Bloom.

The background paper I made by stamping some plain white card stock with the polka dot stamp from Gingham & Co in a light pink, rubbed with some Distress Ink in Antique Linen and then over stamped with text from Text-It by Waltzingmouse Stamps.

I also added some lace, seam binding, feathers and a pearl trinket pin that I made. Ok, have a great weekend. It's Isabelle's 4th birthday today, PARTY is this afternoon! Still loads to do!
