CARD PATTERNS - Sketch 159

Saturday, March 31, 2012

There's a great new sketch up at Card Patterns. This week's sponsor is Designed to Delight, a digital stamp company. I used the Bloom, Grow, Dream set on my card. A fun and cheery image.

The oval shape I embossed onto the front of my card and the image itself is colored with watercolor paints. Yea, I still don't own a single Copic marker!!

The lovely sentiment is from Sticker Sentiments - Thinking of You by SRM Stickers, I thought it went well with this cheery card! Drop by the Card Patterns blog to see this week's creations from the rest of the team! Enjoy the rest of the weekend, we're back to normal Irish weather again, it was nice while it lasted!

CASE Study #84 - Just a note

Thursday, March 29, 2012

It's our final week at CASE Study with the talented Laura Bassen as our muse. I've really enjoyed her inspiring cards, here's this week's card from Laura. Another CAS stunner! Laura worked some magic with those dies!

I CASEd the layout, the use of die cut and sentiment focal point of Laura's card. I used a really pretty label stamp from Lovely Labels 18 designed by Nina B for The Crafts Meow, this set co-ordinates with Spellbinders Labels Eighteen. I stamped it using Coffee archival ink.

A happy coincidence that the circle sticker from Fancy Sticker Sentiment - Thanks by SRM Stickers fit perfectly in the centre of the stamped label!

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, I teamed them with some beige seam binding and a little blue hemp twine.

Don't forget to visit the CASE Study blog to see the wonderful variety of cards from the rest of the DT. It's still sunny here! : )

Egg Hunt!

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

I'm just sharing an Easter card I made, I can't believe how fast Easter is approaching! The initial inspiration came from my fellow WMS design team mate Anya, I love how she cut out the basket and added touches of life with some flying bees! I went a little more vibrant with the colors on my card.

All the stamps I used are from the Spring Baskets stamp set by Waltzingmouse Stamps. I love this set there are SO many elements in it, flowers, eggs, baskets, sentiments, little flying bees and butterflies! I love stamp sets you get a lot of use out of! All the elements I colored using acrylic paints.

The sweet sentiment is from the same stamp set, Spring Baskets. Here's hoping the glorious weather we're having right now in Ireland lasts into the Easter Holidays! It was raining last year when we had a little egg hunt in the garden for Isabelle (it was umbrellas, welly boots and raincoats!) It's like summer here at the moment, I'm wearing a t-shirt in Ireland in MARCH, that's not normal. I'm thankful for it though, we've got lots of gardening done and it's usually too wet to do much! I hope it's sunny where you are! I'll be back on Thursday with my CASE Study card! : )

CARD PATTERNS - Sketch 158

Saturday, March 24, 2012

It's time for a new sketch at Card Patterns, this week we're sponsored by My Favorite Things. I used one of my favorite sets, the Vintage Cameo Stamp set from My Favorite Things. Here's this week's sketch.

For my color inspiration I used this photo I found on Pinterest. I just love the shades of blue with the touch of light green.

I did something a little different with the background, I love a white on white effect so I used the large four petal flower from Spellbinders Home Sweet Home by Nina B Designs and arranged them to create a simple pattern. I love the effect! (they're propped up on some foam pads!)

I really loved the periwinkle blue in the inspiration photo but I didn't have any inks in that shade but I did have lots of acrylic paints, so I mixed up the color to a milky consistency and applied to the stamp with a sponge. I love stamping with paint! I hand cut around the frame (from the Vintage Cameo Stamp set).

I wanted to continue the color into the seam binding so I dyed the seam binding with the acrylic paint too! I've only done this with inks and glimmer mist before so I wasn't sure how it would turn out but I'm happy to say it worked just as well! (I thought it might turn stiff but it wasn't at all!) The dark blue card I embossed and rubbed the surface with a white ink pad.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set Vintage Cameo Set by My Favorite Things. There's a great selection of sentiments in this set.

Don't forget to visit the Card Patterns blog to see the wonderful creations from the rest of the DT. If you have time this week play along, there's a great prize up for grabs and a chance to be our guest designer. I hope you're having a great weekend, it's a beautiful Spring day here in Ireland, warmer than usual so I think we'll have to head out to the garden and catch up on some gardening!! : )

CASE Study #83 - Easter Blessings

Thursday, March 22, 2012

It's week four at CASE Study with the lovely Laura Bassen as our muse. Here's Laura's beautiful card this week! A CAS beauty!

I CASEd the basic layout of Laura's card and kept the block of white space, I just embellished a lot!! : )

I used the Spellbinders Nested Egg Dies to cut out the eggs and stamped using the Nestie Eggs Stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps (inks used Memento Angel Pink and Summer Sky). To add some texture to the white space I embossed the background with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. The bunny/hare I made from Fimo, I'm hoping to add a couple of these to my Etsy shop over the next few days.

I made the little flag by stamping the gingham background in lemon using the Gingham & Co stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I love a little gingham at Easter! The sentiment is from the Nestie Eggs stamp set. I just added the flag to a wooden toothpick.

The pretty flowers and eyelet lace are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The blue gingham patterned paper is from Sweet Nectar by K&Co.

Don't forget to visit the CASE Study blog to see what my team mates have come up with and if you have time this week play along, we'd love to see your creations! It's a beautiful Spring morning here, I think I'll have to find the time to get outside!! : )

Waltzingmouse Stamps March Blog Party!!

Saturday, March 17, 2012

It's March 17th, it's Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party time!! In case you didn't know it's St.Patrick's Day today!! We've a long weekend here in Ireland because St.Patrick's Day is on a Saturday this year, so we have Monday off!! Ok, the official theme is St.Patrick's Day/Irish/Green! If you're not into St.Patrick's Day it's perfectly ok just to make something green. You can check the posting times for your direct links in this blog post. Just add the link to your project using the Inlinkz tool that will be available to you on the Waltzingmouse Makes Blog (Claire's blog!). Ok, on to my card!

I used the little cottage scene from Irish Blessings Stamp Set from Waltzingmouse Stamps, I extended the lines a little bit to make the scene a little bigger and I added a few little sheep. The Irish landscape is not complete without a few sheep! : )

I just looked at a few photos of sheep in the landscape and penciled them in first, making them the right size was the hardest bit! Once they looked ok I outlined them using some brown watercolor paint and a fine brush. They're just little blobs with heads really!

I colored the whole little Irish scene using watercolor paints, the pan palette type. I love the effects you can get with watercolors, especially the wet-in-wet technique. I stamped the scene using Coffee archival ink instead of black for a softer look.

I really wanted to keep the scene the focal point of the card so I kept the rest of the card pretty simple. I rounded the corners of the painted scene and green card (just by drawing around a button, seriously I don't have a corner rounder!) The background I embossed using a herringbone embossing folder. The sentiment is from the Celtic Heritage Stamp Set from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

The inside of the card I stamped using one of the sayings from the Irish Blessings Stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps, I love those little shamrock stamps!

That's it, I hope you're enjoying the blog party and have a chance to make something! We're heading to my hometown today to see the parade, we never miss it, hopefully it won't be too chilly, we'll go prepared though, wrapped in layers of... green!! : ) Happy St.Patrick's Day wherever you are in the world! Thanks for dropping by.

CARD PATTERNS - Sketch 157

It's time for a new sketch at Card Patterns, this week we're sponsored by Sparkle Creations. Each design team member was supplied with some rubber stamps to use on their cards this week from Sparkle Creations. I used Street Corner Josh on my card. Here's this week's sketch.

I flipped the sketch on it's side because it worked better with the format of the stamp. At first glance you may mistake the steam for smoke! But he's definitely just drinking a tea or coffee!! I colored the image with watercolor paints.

The sentiment is a sticker from We've Got Your Sticker - Happy by SRM Stickers. I love the white text stickers in these sets! The patterned paper is from Echo Park Country Drive.

Don't forget to pop over to the Card Patterns blog to see the amazing creations from the DT this week. If you have time this week do play along, there's a great prize up for grabs and a chance to be our guest designer.

Nina B Designs - First Blog Hop!

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Yay! It's finally here, the very first Nina B Designs Blog hop!! I'm delighted to be taking part in this exciting event with such a talented group of ladies!! The design team and I have some projects to show you that feature the Nina B Designs' Spellbinders™ Paper Arts (Home Sweet Home and Sewing Elements), The Craft's Meow Stamps, and Want2Scrap bling. I made three cards featuring Spellbinders Sewing Elements (and a little bit of Spellbinders Home Sweet Home) and the Sew Lovely stamp set from The Crafts Meow.

I just love the Spellbinders Sewing Elements dies, there are so many gorgeous dies in this set, my favorite has to be the sewing machine! I really wanted to show off the details in this die so I just die cut it in a plain pink cardstock, inked the surface with white ink and a little white acrylic paint. I added one of the die cut buttons from the same set and some real mini buttons. I couldn't resist adding a little thread to the spool!

Next to the cluster of flowers I added a little die cut tag from Spellbinders Home Sweet Home, it's such a cute little size! The sentiment is from the Sew Lovely stamp set from The Crafts Meow.

For my second card I featured one of the beautiful labels from The Crafts Meow Sew Lovely and I stamped the pink button background paper. The sentiment is from the same set.

Here's a detail from the label, I love this sentiment. I stamped one of the little heart buttons, cut it out and added it to the label with a foam pad.

For my last card I used more of the fabulous dies from Spellbinders Sewing Elements, I had so much fun playing with these! I nearly used them all, there's also a cute thimble in the set!

I wrapped the spool die with some pink embroidery floss/thread and added a sweet flower. I inked the die cut shapes with white ink and a little white acrylic paint to highlight the details!

How cute is that little scissors, I love the details in this set! I can see myself using it a lot!

The sentiment is from The Crafts Meow Sew Lovely stamp set. It works really well with the Spellbinders Sewing Elements dies!

I hope you enjoyed my trio of cards inspired by these gorgeous dies and stamps.
