Scroll down to the next post for my CASE Study card. I hope you're enjoying the Waltzingmouse Stamps October Blog Party. The theme for October is a color selection, purple, orange and black. Any shade of these colors is ok to use, so I went with slightly richer tones of these colors for my card, plum, burnt sienna and black. You can also use your choice of neutral. (I did add a little touch of green in there for the foliage, I'm sure you'll forgive me though!)
I used the gorgeous lantern from Bright Season from Waltzingmouse Stamps as my focal point, I just love this lantern and it's such a great size (just over 4" tall). I stamped it with embossing ink and heat embossed in black.
I stamped the candle and outer glow using Vintage Photo Distress Ink, I stamped the smaller inner glow by coloring the stamp with Spiced Marmalade Distress Marker. I rubbed the edges of the lantern with Antique Linen Distress Ink and added some more warmth with Scattered Straw Distress Marker. The flame is colored with Spiced Marmalade Distress Marker and a touch of Barn Door. I also added a little gold glitter to the tip. The foliage is also from Bright Season, stamped using Memento Pistachio ink, touched up with Peeled Paint and Forest Moss Distress Markers.
To achieve the tonal depth on the embossed plum cardstock (which is from the Tim Holtz Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection) I used two different Distress stains around the edges, Antique Linen and Walnut Stain. I also used these on the tan seam binding to add some more depth of color. Ok, I'm off to check out the Blog Party!! : )
