Mossy Meadow shop update

Tuesday, November 21, 2017

Just popping in with a shop update for the Mossy Meadow. I found this beautiful dark green linen and it makes a lovely backdrop for nature inspired embroideries. Snowdrops, Bluebells, a wild bunny and a golden bee are what came into my imagination this time, so I went with it! The golden bee is a brooch and it was my first time using metallic thread, I love the effect it gives.

Just to give you an idea of size and how the pendants look on here's a photo of me wearing the Snowdrops pendant!

I added some new birds to my collection (they are a constant source of inspiration) this time I studied some American birds, the American Goldfinch, Chickadee and the beautiful Cardinal (I wish we had those here!). I also made some more detailed, larger bird embroideries in the form of Christmas ornaments, I love how they turned out even though they took a long time to make!

I also added some more needle felted items, including this little Bumble Bee pin/brooch, I never get tired of bees!

And a cute little Red Squirrel bag charm, he turned out quite big so he'll make quite a statement on a bag! But that's good if you love squirrels!

Lastly I made a few painted Christmas ornaments. They're painted using acrylics onto wooden slices, I love the texture and feel of the wood. Pop over to the Mossy Meadow if you'd like to see more of what I've been making!

Thanks for all the support, I'm grateful to be able to do what I love and share it with world. I hope it inspires you on your own creative journey. Have a lovely Thanksgiving and enjoy the holidays!

Starry Night and Into the Woods

Thursday, September 21, 2017

Hi! I'm just popping in with some of my latest miniature embroidery creations that I've just listed in my Etsy shop - The Mossy Meadow. The first collection is called Starry Night, as you can see there's everything from a Snowy Owl to the Northern Lights!

The second collection is called Into the Woods, featuring some woodland critters (the Red Squirrel is my favourite!) fungi and other things you might find in the woods! I really loved making these, it's always quite a challenge to see what I can embroider at such a small scale and I usually surprise myself what I can actually do! Thanks to everyone who has supported me so far, I really appreciate it! Thanks for taking a look! Have a great weekend! : )

Mossy Meadow - New Summer Garden Pendants

Wednesday, August 2, 2017

Just popping in with a few photos of the new pendants just listed in the Mossy Meadow Etsy shop. The new collection is called Summer Garden and features more bees of course, Daisies, Cornflowers/Bachelor's Buttons, pretty bouquets and roses.

There are also some with a slightly more vintage feel, like these more detailed florals embroidered onto sage green fabric.

Inspired by a commission I've also included these pretty red roses, not my usual colour palette but I love how they turned out. I also experimented with some little bobby pins too.

More roses, bees, a large white butterfly, strawberry and yes, that is a chicken. There are chickens in my summer garden! We've five altogether in our mixed flock, including a Sussex breed like the one I embroidered here! I love the markings on their feathers!

That's all for now, if you fancy taking a closer look pop on over to the Mossy Meadow! If you'd like to see what I'm working on currently behind the scenes then follow me on Instagram. Thanks for dropping by!

It's been a while! Mossy Meadow

Wednesday, July 5, 2017

I know it's been ages since I blogged on here, I almost forgot how to, for a moment! It's funny the last post on here was embroidery related because that leads me on nicely to what I have to share. I've been busy working away the past year, improving my skills, mostly in embroidery, needle felting and illustration. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll be up to speed. So for ages I've wanted to open up an Etsy shop, a place for people to find all the things I've been making and I've finally organized it all. So it's called the Mossy Meadow, I've started with hand embroidered jewellery and some needle felted pieces but I'll be adding lots more items in the coming weeks.

There are lots of flower inspired pieces of course. Starting with this collection of Violas and Pansies. I love both wild flowers and garden flowers, so I'm not short on inspiration!

Bees feature quite a bit. I made this piece combining needle felting techniques for the body and hand embroidery for the wings, legs and antennae. I love Bumble Bees and the wool used in needle felting really captures their fuzzy bodies well! I've also included a Honey Bee in the collection.

I've also created this Garden Birds Collection, this set features birds of the UK and Ireland because they're the ones I see every day in my back garden! But because I love birds so much I'll definitely be exploring the globe and creating more bird embroideries from other places too!

So I hope you'll follow me along on my creative journey, maybe to just take a look, like a page (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest) or help people to find my new shop. I'd really appreciate it! That's all for now! Hope all is well with you!
